Archive for September 2020Do you have a Clue (Get the Most Out of a Service Visit)Posted September 27, 2020 3:29 AMWhen you head to the doctor, you probably have it in your mind what you're going to say about why you don't feel good. That way your doctor can use that information to diagnose your problem. You might want to think of that same approach when you take your vehicle in for a repair. Experts say what will help the service advisor most is for you to bring in some well-organized descriptions about your vehicle's issues. You might even want to write them down so you don't forget. Is there an unusual smell? What does it smell like? Does the problem happen first thing after starting out? If there's an odd sound you hear, is it dependent on speed? Does it change when you turn a corner? Keep your expectations realistic. Some conditions may take a long time to diagnose and repair. If you go thinking you'll be in and out in no time, you might be disappointed when you're told there are other customers ahead of you and you may have to come back tomorrow. If you can make alternate plans to have someone pick you up and take you back when the vehicle is finished, that way you won't feel like you've wasted your time. Most importantly, be available for any communication from the service advisor. If they have your cell phone and they have a question or need an approval for a repair, the sooner they reach you, the sooner things can move forward. The service facility wants your experience with them to be good just as you do. With a little help from you, they'll get your vehicle back on the road and you'll have a smile on your face. Darrell's Firestone Fall and Spring Inspection at Darrell's FirestonePosted September 20, 2020 2:59 AMGood vehicle care for us Farmington residents has always meant taking our vehicles in every spring and fall for a check-up. Vehicles needed routine maintenance to prepare them for the changes in weather. Today's vehicles aren't quite as sensitive to seasonal changes. Older vehicles required different weights of oil for summer and winter. But today's engines can run on the same oil all year. Both the engines and the oils have been improved. Darrell's Firestone Fuel System Cleaning at Darrell's Firestone for Better PerformancePosted September 13, 2020 11:33 AMHi Farmington residents. Let's talk fuel injectors. A fuel injector is a valve that delivers fuel to a vehicle's engine. It has to deliver the precise amount of fuel to precisely the right place, precisely when the engine needs it. The fuel also has to be mixed with air before it can burn in the engine. Darrell's Firestone Darrell's Firestone Brake Service for Safe Stopping in FarmingtonPosted September 6, 2020 12:34 PMLet's talk about something critical for all Farmington drivers: your brakes. Your vehicle is heavy, and it takes a lot of muscle to bring it and your passengers to a safe stop – so everything needs to be in good working order. Here's an explanation on how your disc brakes work: The wheel hub keeps your wheel attached to your vehicle. The brake disc – or rotor – is attached to the hub and rotates with the wheel as you drive around Farmington. Your brake pads clamp onto the rotor to slow the wheel. Darrell's Firestone | ||
